My Mother’s Home from the Hospital

My mom made it home tonight. They took her off the two meds that were slowing down her heart rate from what Dad was saying.

She’s slept most of the time she’s been home. I guess they were going to keep her another night, but she was able to show them she could move around okay.

Personally, I think it would have been better if she had stayed another night. And this is coming from someone that really isn’t comfortable with hospitals. At all.

But I’m not a doctor and chances are it’s just my anxiety acting up on this one.

I just can’t help but wonder if Dad hadn’t pushed for her to come home rather than let her stay in case she needed to. I mean we’re talking about the heart here. Her father died of congestive heart failure and while I know the blood pressure meds isn’t directly related to that, I feel that maybe it would have been better to err on the side of caution.

Because she’s home now so the expectation for her to bounce right back is going to be there even if it isn’t spoken. People are human like that.

“You’re out of the hospital, so you’re all better now.”

Sadly, recovery doesn’t work like that but our brains have a hard time accepting it.

She’s been down and worn out for awhile now. Chances are it’s due to these meds they’ve had her on. It’s going to be awhile for them to get out of her system and for her to rest up. I hope Dad will understand that. Of us all, he depends on her the most.
