Here in Maine the weather has been cold, cold, and more cold in a wide array of varieties. I’m done with cold. I’m done with winter.
I also need to get out of my head for a bit. Too much of the same thing cycling over like a broken record up in there. It’s not productive.
I’m a firm advocate of music therapy. Whether you’re neurotypical or neurodivergent the evidence of its benefits are solid. There is a reason we as a species having been saying for years that music is the universal language. I dare say it’s also the language of the soul. It’s the reason I enjoy doing this weekly feature in my blog.
There are many ways to reap the benefits of music therapy:
- composing music
- writing lyrics for music
- playing an instrument
- moving to music
- listening to music
I think that because music is a universal language it’s an effective bridge to bring people together. Music is as much as a social experience as it is a private one. There’s much to be said about the togetherness that comes from sharing music.
So this week I’ve selected upbeat, happy music that I find it hard not to move to – and yes, most of them are themed around sunlight. I’m looking forward to the warmer, longer days right now!
