2018 Chaos Rally #47 ~ Unavoidable Discipline

This weekend’s Chaos Rally playlist has songs by Eminem and Imagine Dragons in it to reflect the themes of self-discipline and unavoidable truth discussed in Team Goblin’s tarot forecast for next week. Enjoy!

Next Week’s Forecast

Intro

The purpose of this Chaos Rally reading is to take a look at the coming week and see in what way we can challenge ourselves to do better in regards to our overall wellness. I ask you to approach this as a fun brainstorming session of possibilities rather than me prescribing a course of action to you.

And again, in terms of wellness I want to point out that this applies to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the self. All four of these comprise the total sense of being and need to be taken care of in order to be well. As always, and I cannot stress this enough, be sure to speak to the appropriate professional before making changes to your care plan. This is especially true if my reading for some reason inspires a change in diet, exercise, supplements, or medications, or even raises a concern regarding to your health.

I’m not a specialist in any of these fields. My goal is to look at how to manage wellness in the presence and with the cooperation of your professional care team. Please keep this in mind when going over this reading.

The Challenge: The Chariot

Achieving your goals requires discipline once you have clarity on what you truly want to do.

Monday-Chariot

Monday Button’s position represents the challenge you need to be working on at this time. Thus, what you need to be working on right now is found within the Chariot.

Next week’s challenge involves knowing exactly what it is you want to do be doing and aligning everything around that one goal. This requires discipline because every action you take will either move you closer to your goal or push you further away.

So there are two questions you need to be asking yourself when it comes to examining your daily habits:

  1. Does this bring me closer to reaching my goal?
  2. If it’s not bringing me closer to reaching my goal, why do I want this goal?
    1. Sometimes we think we want something because we’ve been told we should when we don’t actually want it.
    2. Sometimes we really do want something but don’t know how to make the changes we need to get there.

When you have a clear idea of what it is you truly want, it becomes easier to determine which habits serve you and what steps you need to take to meet the goals you have set. Until then, it’s too easy to become derailed and side tracked.

The Lesson: Two of Swords

Face the undeniable truth within you.

Grim-2S

Grim Lee’s position represents what you need to be learning while working on your challenge. Therefore, your lesson at this time is found within the Two of Swords.

The lesson to be learned from having discipline in your daily habits to reach your goals is facing the undeniable truth within you. What is it that really matters to you? What serves you and what doesn’t? What moves you forward and what hinders your progress? Sometimes the harshest truth is looking right back at you in the mirror. How much self sabotaging are you undergoing every day?

You control the reigns of your life through appropriate boundaries.

Grim-Monday-2S-Chariot

But looking at these two cards together, it goes beyond just your personal daily habits, doesn’t it? It also includes how often you allow others to derail your plans and goals. How much space do you give to people in your life? How frequently do you hand over the reigns?

Again, you have control here. This is an issue of appropriate boundaries. If your plate is full, then say so. If you are busy, then speak up. Don’t let someone else dictate the path you take every day.

The Inner Lie: Ten of Wands

You need to believe that your goal is worth the effort required, otherwise there’s no point in having the goal at all.

Murphy-10W

Murphy Law’s position represents the false belief you need to overcome while working on your challenge. The inner lie at this time is revealed within the Ten of Wands.

Sometimes when working on your goals or a project it’s easy to believe that there’s no end in sight. There always seems to be something still left to do. There will be days when you feel overwhelmed or just plain exhausted. The worst part comes when doubt sets in during all of this. When this happens you find yourself wondering if it’s worth continuing.

You need to believe that your goal is worth the effort required. If you don’t have this belief, then there isn’t a point in having the goal in the first place.

When your goal clearly feels worth the effort, it’s easier to remain on task and motivated.

Murphy-Monday-10W-Chariot

When you have a goal that clearly feels worth the effort required to reach, it becomes easier to remain motivated to prevent becoming derailed.

If you don’t feel like it’s worth the effort, return to the questions posed earlier and explore why you have been aiming for this. Is this something you truly want, or is this something you have been reaching for because it’s been imposed upon you?

When you are feeling doubt or overwhelmed regarding your goals, take the time to reexamine the truth that resides within you for guidance.

Murphy-Grim-10W-2S

While it is normal to feel overwhelmed and doubtful from time to time when working on your goals, this feeling should serve as a signal to reassess what you’re doing and why.

This means that it’s time to reexamine the truth within you.

Are you busy doing the things that truly serve to move you forward, or are you serving the path of someone else? Are you sabotaging yourself by needlessly keeping yourself busy with stuff that doesn’t have an actual purpose?

If you are still on the right path, strengthen your resolve and continue to press forward. If you find that you have derailed in some way, then alter your course to a direction you wish to go.

If you are consistently feeling terrible about your goals, then this is a strong indicator that a realignment in your life needs to be made.

Murphy-Monday-Grim-10W-Chariot-2S

The important take away here with the Ten of Wands this coming week is that this isn’t so much as a lie to overcome as it is a need to check oneself and adjust the reigns accordingly.

You need to always be aware of the motives behind what you’re doing. Are you doing it to move you forward, or are you doing it to keep the peace or please someone? I don’t think any one answer is right or wrong since each situation is different, but you do need to be aware of how your actions make you feel and how they help or hinder your ability to achieve your goals.

If you consistently feel like you’re failing to meet your goals or you’re consistently feeling awful about your situation, then this is a strong indicator that a realignment with you and your goals needs to be made.

The Wisdom: Queen of Wands

How you treat others also has an impact on your ability to reach your goals.

Toad-QW

Wise Toad’s position represents the wisdom to keep in mind as you work on your challenge. The wisdom you need at this time is found within the Queen of Wands.

The Queen of Wands is a social net-worker and manages tasks and projects through interpersonal relations. She can be either a warm and vibrant personality, or she can be dominate and overbearing.

So how does this persona within the tarot’s court pertain to this coming week’s challenge? The advice here with this card is look at how you interact with others as you strive to achieve your goals in the days ahead. How you treat others also has an impact upon your ability to reach your goals. There is truth in the cliché that you attract more flies with honey than vinegar.

Surround yourself with those that support your goals and whose goals align with yours.

Toad-Monday-QW-Chariot

The wisdom of the Queen of Wands paired with the Chariot encourages you to surround yourself with those that support your goals rather than waste time with people that continuously derail you from accomplishing the things you need to do and get done. As an added bonus, find people whose goals are similar to yours so that together you can build a community of common interests.

Be an assertive advocate and surround yourself with those that matter.

Toad-Grim-QW-2S

The Queen of Wands also asks you to examine the truth of your interactions with others as you reach your goals. Are you trying to fly entirely solo when you should be sharing the burden of the workload? Are you pleasant to be around or are you the dark cloud in someone else’s day? Do you allow others to step in and take over the task on you? Do you allow others to dictate your path each day?

How are you managing these interactions? Are you a silent doormat, an assertive self advocate, or a looming tyrant? Ideally, you want to be an assertive advocate for yourself that isn’t crushing the boundaries of others.

Naturally there is an art to this and it’s likely some people aren’t going to like seeing you set boundaries for yourself. This anonymous quote illuminates it best: “Those that matter don’t mind, and those that mind don’t matter.” Surround yourself with those that matter.

Not every goal needs to be completed alone.

Toad-Murphy-QW-10W

Another important aspect of the wisdom from the Queen of Wands here is when you feel overwhelmed or over burdened. You’re never truly alone in life. If you need help with something, especially if it’s important, then reach out and speak up. Ask for that help and be sure to pay it forward when the time comes.

Conclusion

Align your life around your goals to achieve your dreams.

11-24-18-Team-All

Pulling back, let’s look at all four cards here. The Chariot challenges you to focus on the clarity of your intentions behind your goals so that your actions move you toward accomplishing them. The Two of Swords asks you to look inward at the truth within you to resolve any conflicts that may be hindering your forward movement. The Ten of Wands tells you the only goals worthy of keeping are the ones deserving of your effort. Finally there is the wisdom of the Queen of Wands reminding you that you’re not alone in all this.

If you can align your life around your goals, you will be able to achieve anything one step at a time.
