Temperance represents alchemy, the creation of something from what initially appears to be incompatible components.
The caution here is to be aware of and to avoid toxic dynamics.
Those of us who have experienced domestic violence and other forms of toxic dynamics within relationships can understand the risk involved that comes with this kind of inclination.
Boundaries serve a valuable purpose in self-care.
It’s important to remember that boundaries aren’t about what another person will or should do, but about what you’re doing when something occurs.
You don’t have to remain in a situation when someone starts yelling. You can walk away before it escalates further. This is a healthy boundary and it’s one that you don’t need to explain, defend, or anything else.
You just flow with your boundary when the need arises.
And if that person continues to violate your boundaries, then you can flow right out of their life. You are not obligated to allow them remain in your space.
This is how true alchemy within Temperance works for self-care. Not by erasing your boundaries, but by flowing with them.
