The King of Cups encourages us to create calmness within our heart space.

We can never control what others do, but we can always control how we choose to respond to it.

It’s temping to want to control everything but the reality is, you simply can’t. Trying to do so is only going to lead to heartache and exhaustion.

It is better to step back and treat everyone, including yourself, with the respect, dignity, and compassion they need to be their authentic selves rather than to force a heart into a box it doesn’t fit.

By creating a safe space to be your true self and allowing free expression, you create a calm in the chaos. It becomes an eye in the storm around you.

Look how gracious this man is on this card. He is standing up as if to greet someone, even though he is a king. It’s easy to image that he’s just asked his guest to make themselves comfortable. He doesn’t look like he there to boss anyone around or take any orders even though he might be there to do business.

So my take on this card today is that you have two choices in life: you can allow yourself to be caught up in the chaos storm of others or you can invite them into the eye of yours.
