Vesta encourages us to focus on the home and the life we have there today.
The home should be a sanctuary for all that lives there. What are you doing to contribute to that feeling right now?
Vesta was the Roman virgin goddess of hearth, home, and family represented only has a flame. Her flame in her temple was always tended to so that it would never go out. This ensured that every home was blessed with warmth.
I find it interesting that this goddess of the home was one of fire. Back then, if you didn’t have fire to keep warm and cook food you could easily die. But I also think that because she was also a fertility goddess, her fire represents emotional warmth too.
Love and passion burns within us all and the human heart has a tremendous capacity for both. Who better to share that with than our own family? Are we offering our warmth to our loved ones on a daily basis?
