2019 Chaos Rally #26

In this coming week’s wellness tarot challenge, we look at how we have learned from our families to resolve conflict and ask how and why we can make improvements. Read on for details!

This Coming Week’s Reading

Intro-06-28-19The purpose of this Chaos Rally tarot reading is to take a look at the coming week and see in what way we can challenge ourselves to do better in regards to our overall wellness. I ask you to approach this as a fun brainstorming session of possibilities rather than me prescribing a course of action to you.

And again, in terms of wellness I want to point out that this applies to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the self. All four of these comprise the total sense of being and need to be taken care of in order to be well. As always, and I cannot stress this enough, be sure to speak to the appropriate professional before making changes to your care plan. This is especially true if my reading for some reason inspires a change in diet, exercise, supplements, or medications, or even raises a concern regarding to your health.

I’m not a specialist in any of these fields. My goal is to look at how to manage wellness in the presence and with the cooperation of your professional care team. Please keep this in mind when going over this reading.

The Challenge: Nine of Cups

The challenge this coming week is to find things in your day to day life to appreciate to either restore or increase contentment and satisfaction levels.

Monday-06-28-19Monday Button’s position represents the challenge you need to be working on at this time. Thus, what you need to be working on right now is found within the Nine of Cups.

This card represents contentment, satisfaction, restoration, and appreciation. Here in this image we have Eros and Psyche together in contentment.  Meanwhile Aphrodite is satisfied that all the tasks she had laid out have been completed. The couple has been restored and they have a greater appreciation for each other.

The challenge this coming week is to find things in your day to day life to appreciate to either restore or increase contentment and satisfaction levels.

The Lesson: The Empress

The lesson here is sometimes we need to look at what is best for everyone and make compromises, even if it isn’t what we really want.

Grim-06-28-19Grim Lee’s position represents what you need to be learning while working on your challenge. Therefore, your lesson at this time is found within the Empress.

Demeter’s story is somewhat sad. Hades robbed her of her daughter, Persephone, due – unbeknownst to her – of an arrangement between him and her father Zeus. Any parent caught in a custody battle can understand the depression she fell into. Although, because she was the goddess of grain, hers caused a famine. Eventually, an agreement was made for Persephone to visit Demeter for part of the year. From then on when she returned to the Underworld, it became winter.

The lesson here is sometimes we need to look at what is best for everyone and make compromises, even if it isn’t what we really want.

There are people out there that love you and are cheering for you.

Grim-Monday-06-28-19So here’s an interesting thing: Aphrodite was jealous of Psyche and didn’t want her to be with her son. All through Psyche’s trials to prove herself to Aphrodite that she was worthy of assistance, Eros secretly helped her. Eventually, Aphrodite had no choice but to accept their love as real and everlasting.

The hidden gem in all this, I think, is that – like Demeter and Psyche – sometimes we think we’re struggling all alone but there are people out there paying attention and watching what we’re doing. There are people out there that love you and are cheering for you. You’re not ever really alone.

I think it’s important to remember this, take heart in it, and appreciate it enough to keep going.

The Inner Lie: Five of Swords

It takes courage to do the work required to break family curses and mutli-generation conflict.

Murphy-06-28-19Murphy Law’s position represents the false belief you need to overcome while working on your challenge. The inner lie at this time is revealed within the Five of Swords.

Here is Orestes discussing with Apollo about the multi-generational conflict that’s been going on in his family. This family had been cursed with a long line of backstabbing, murder, seduction – you name it, it’s happened. Eventually, Orestes breaks the multi-generation conflict and curse with the help of Apollo and Athena.

How often have you heard, “It runs in the family?” This is the false belief to overcome. It takes courage to do the work required to stop the line.

Happiness is found only when conflict is resolved, not when it’s ignored and allowed to fester.

Murphy-Monday-06-28-19Happiness is found only when conflict is resolved, not when it’s ignored and allowed to fester.

What would have happened to Eros and Psyche if the two of them had permitted the jealous of her sisters and his mother to keep them apart? What would have happened to Orestes and his family if he had turned a blind eye on their atrocities?

Conflict cannot be avoided forever.

It’s important to note here that healthy conflict involves looking at what’s best for everyone.

Murphy-Grim-06-28-19It’s important to note here that healthy conflict involves looking at what’s best for everyone. Yes, sometimes you do need to protect yourself and hold your ground but it shouldn’t be a battle each time a disagreement arises.

Aiming for peace doesn’t mean you have to be a pushover or a people pleaser.

Murphy-Grim-Monday-06-28-19A willingness to approach conflict with an honest intent towards the greater good brings overall satisfaction and an increased sense of restoration to everyone involved.

The reason for this is because you’re less likely to enter a conflict with a “me vs. you” mindset when you are aiming for the greater good. A “me vs. you” mindset doesn’t look for compromises or solutions either; it only seeks to win and shut the other side down.

Aiming for peace doesn’t mean you have to be a pushover or a people pleaser. It just means you need to be willing to examine the big picture and see both sides of the issue.

The Wisdom: Queen of Cups

While it’s important to be receptive to your emotions, don’t be blinded by them.

Toad-06-28-19Wise Toad’s position represents the wisdom to keep in mind as you work on your challenge. The wisdom you need at this time is found within the Queen of Cups.

Queens represent the matured feminine and cups represent the heart space within the tarot. So here we have the feminine energy combined with emotional flow of the heart.

However, the queen depicted here for this deck is none other than Helen of Troy. Her face is the face that launched a thousand ships in Greek myth and she is the one that fled Troy in favor of Paris, which sparked a 10 year war.

The wisdom here is that while it’s important to be receptive to your emotions, don’t be blinded by them.

You will find greater contentment in your life when you stop resisting how you feel.

Toad-Monday-06-28-19Emotions are just energy in motion, so either make use of them to create something or allow them to flow on by. You will find greater contentment in your life when you stop resisting how you feel. You are a human being, so allow yourself to be human by being receptive to how you feel in the moment.

[insert Toad and Grim Card Combo summary]

Toad-Grim-06-28-19It was not in the best interest of anyone for Demeter to wallow in her depression the way she had for as long as she did. This is why it’s critical for us to develop the self-awareness we need to know our symptoms and take action as required to become well again, regardless of the illness involved.

Learn what emotional first aid looks like and master those skills.

Be aware of your emotions during a conflict and manage them appropriately.

Toad-Murphy-06-28-19Be aware of your emotions during a conflict and manage them appropriately.

You cannot control the feelings or behavior of others, nor can you always control how you feel. However, you always have control over how you choose to behave and how you choose to enter the conflict.

Conclusion

Look at how you have learned from your family to resolve conflict and ask yourself where you can make improvements.

All-06-28-19The central message of this reading is to look at how we have learned from our families to resolve conflict. Is it healthy? How can we make it healthier and bring greater happiness to our lives?

We don’t have to repeat generational habits. We can form new habits with effort over time to hand down to the next.
