According to folk-lore, the New Moon and waxing phases are fertile and wet. This is the best time to set intentions, start goals, and launch projects. Meanwhile the Full Moon and waning phases, the tide recedes and thus things dry up. So this is a good time to thin, weed out, and prune.
Another New Moon is upon us and now is the time to clarify our intentions and solidify our commitments for the lunar month ahead. With today’s reading we will explore the energies of the Four Pillars of Wellness and our current point in the Journey of Life. In doing so we can take the time to consider what we do and don’t want in our lives and set the appropriate intentions and goals towards what we desire.
Here is the spread for this New Moon’s reading.
Current Point on Life’s Path – Nine of Swords
Address whatever is causing anxiety, worry, or dread for you.
One of the biggest side effects for harboring feelings like this is poor quality sleep, which in turn perpetuates the cycle since poor sleep lowers your ability to cope.
Ask yourself what triggers these feelings in you and how you can better manage them. Avoiding a trigger entirely isn’t always possible, so focusing on developing better coping skills is ideal.
Spiritual Needs – Four of Wands
Examine your daily rituals and routines to discern which ones provide you with a greater sense of connection and rapport with yourself, others, and the universe.
Spiritually here you are being asked to examine your daily rituals and routines to discern which ones provide you with a greater sense of connection and rapport with yourself, others, and the universe.
Whatever habits, behaviors, situations, or environments you have that are causing you to feel disconnected or pulls you out of alignment needs to be abandoned or altered.
A true sense of belonging only comes when you are feeling connected to and in alignment with your authentic self.
Anxiety is the desire to escape the present moment. If you are feeling connected to yourself and the world around you, this desire cannot exist.
Emotional Needs – Eight of Wands
There is a need to feel like you’re making progress and really moving forward in your life.
Allow yourself to flow and let life unfold before you as you work on your goals. Things don’t always go according to plan, but they do go progress in the way you need them too. Instead of resisting this process, be willing to learn and develop from it.
By working through these feelings using your coping skills, you can overcome them and move closer to achieving your goals. As you get better with this, you will discover greater peace within yourself.
Your daily rituals and routines have the greatest impact on your forward movement in life. Be honest with yourself about how you are feeling and what you are doing that promotes it. Change the things that need to be changed to open up your path.
Mental Needs – Eight of Cups
There is a need to discern when and what to let go of and what you need to keep working on.
The path before you clears as you become better able to manage the difference between holding on and letting go. When you are willing to accept that you have done everything you can in a particular situation, you are then able to take the lesson from it and move on. Doing so breaks the cycles you feel stuck in.
While you can’t avoid all the things that trigger these feelings, you can determine what things to let go of to release yourself from those feelings. Better you get at doing this, the greater peace you will feel in your life.
Are they raising your vibration, increasing your energy, and expanding your sense of well-being? Or, are they lowering your vibration, decreasing your energy, and constricting your well-being?
Be really honest with yourself on this one as you discern which habits and routines need to be abandoned. Anything that is constricting your well-being is what disconnects you from yourself and throws you out of alignment.
Hanging on to whatever needs to be released will only hinder your progression and create additional challenges for you until you accept and learn the lesson from it. If you are feeling stuck in life or don’t feel like you are making the progress you need, take a deep look at what is obstructing your path.
Physical Needs – Ten of Pentacles
Pay attention to the environment you live in.
Your environment not only influences your well-being, but also reflects your current state. Disorganization and clutter will cause you to feel more stress. Uncleanliness will create greater risk of illness. With that said, don’t allow your environment to become too structured since this will generate feelings of being boxed in with restricted movement.
Is it promoting peace in your life, or is it encouraging these feelings? What needs to happen in your environment to make a shift to more peaceful feelings?
Do you tend to keep things tidy as you go, or do you tend to save it for later? Do your daily habits and routines promote or hinder your wellness? Be really honest with yourself as you ask this. Make a commitment to realign yourself in such a way that promotes physical well-being.
Are you always hunting for what you need? Is your environment physically obstructed? Do you feel distracted by the space you’re operating in?
By asking these questions and addressing them, you can create a better sense of organization in your process. This promotes the flow state and momentum.
Is it useful and serving a purpose? Does it bring you joy? Answering these questions will let you know what needs to be gotten rid of and what to keep.
Hanging on to anything you need to get rid of only creates clutter. Do yourself a favor by clearing the space you need to move around in.
