Lunar Intentions 2020 – March

According to folk-lore, the New Moon and waxing phases are fertile and wet. This is the best time to set intentions, start goals, and launch projects. Meanwhile the Full Moon and waning phases, the tide recedes and thus things dry up. So this is a good time to thin, weed out, and prune.

Another New Moon is upon us and now is the time to clarify our intentions and solidify our commitments for the lunar month ahead. With today’s reading we will explore the energies of the Four Pillars of Wellness and our current point in the Journey of Life. In doing so we can take the time to consider what we do and don’t want in our lives and set the appropriate intentions and goals towards what we desire.

Current Point on Life’s Path – The Lovers

Are the choices you make leading you down a path you honestly want to go down, or are you making them simply because you are afraid of how others might react?

LI-01-03-2020People want to automatically assume that when they see the Lovers that it’s about romance, but it’s actually more complex than that – just like being in a relationship when we really stop to think about it.

It’s about the alchemy and unification of two parts, whether it’s between two people or between the higher mind and and the animal brain. It’s about autonomy and repression, and the free agency we find that comes from all that.

The bottom line is, being in a relationship of any kind, including one with ourselves, doesn’t do us any good if we lose sense of who we truly are. There is a reason that the moon, representative of fear and illusion, and the sword, representative of truth and pain, is present in the image of this version of the card.

Many versions of this card is a depiction of Adam and Eve for a reason. Adam chose to give away his power, and lose sight of himself, to eat the forbidden fruit in the name of making Eve happy. And to be fair, this doesn’t make either of them bad or toxic people.

What it means is that we need to be aware of the choices we are making and why we are making them. And this month, we are being called to take inventory of those choices and the true intentions behind them. Are the choices we make leading us down a path we honestly want to go down, or are we making them simply because we are afraid of how others might react?

Spiritual Needs – Nine of Pentacles

Remember, you can’t reap the harvest right after you plant the seeds in the field.

LI-02-03-2020Your soul needs you to trust the universe and take the time to rest. All things will unfold before you in its divine timing. While this doesn’t mean you can slack off, it does mean that the work you have put in has been done and your efforts will pay off.

LI-03-03-2020Another thing to keep in mind is what are you working towards, for whom, and why. Whatever it is you are doing, are you doing it for your long-term happiness? If not, why not? Why are you willing to struggle, suffer, toil, and make sacrifices now in the short-term if it isn’t for your long-term happiness?

Anything that isn’t leading you down your life path isn’t going to be healthy for you and only you can determine what your life path truly is.

Emotional Needs – Five of Wands

If you are finding yourself unable to disengage from this chaos and turbulence, it’s time to ask yourself why this is and how it’s serving you.

LI-04-03-2020Challenges in life is what strengthens us. It pushes us to develop skills and grow. However, there is a healthy way and an unhealthy way to approach these challenges in life. You don’t need to participate in every fight you’re invited to, for example. You don’t need to prove every person wrong either. You can allow them to be wrong.

Learning when to engage and when to walk away, grants you increased internal peace emotionally. When you engage in a battle presented to you, emotional turbulence is created. When you engage in every battle presented, you experience constant emotional chaos. If you are finding yourself unable to disengage from this chaos and turbulence, it’s time to ask yourself why this is and how it’s serving you.

LI-05-03-2020It is important to always remember that while you may not be able to control the emotions you feel, since they are subconscious messengers in response to your internal and external environment after all, you are always in control of your response to these emotions and the story you choose to tell yourself about them.

With this in mind, you can always choose to pause, tell yourself the story you need that will lead you down the path of better choices and actions you want that will cultivate the emotions you desire to feel.

It really is the stories we tell ourselves that construct our belief systems and mindsets that lay the foundations of our behaviors. And it’s our habitual behavior that creates the environment we live in from which our emotions emerge from. So we need to be mindful of what we are co-creating with those around us.

LI-06-03-2020You cannot exist in a state peace and rest if your own behavior is not coming from a place of peace and rest. It is that simple. There is no way around this. If you keep choosing to engage in every battle that you are invited into, or you choose to create battles for whatever reason, then you will never know the state of peace and rest that your soul needs. All you will ever know is constant struggle and resistance.

Learn to know when to fight and when to let it go – even within yourself.

Mental Needs – Queen of Swords

You need to be able to find the humor in life rather than take it and yourself so seriously all the time.

LI-07-03-2020Mentally not only do you need to see and accept the truth for what it is, as it is, when it presents itself, you need to be able to find the humor in life rather than take it and yourself so seriously all the time.

Finding joy in the little, every day things lifts our spirits and restores our energy. Computers were designed to imitate the human mind, not the other way around. Take the time to remember what it was that sparked joy and tickled your funny bone as a child. Bring this back in small ways in your adult life to nourish your mental creativity.

LI-08-03-2020The union of the mind and heart is necessary in order to find one’s joy and creativity. You cannot operate from solely one or the other and expect to achieve true happiness. They must be merged and balanced for the heart will always desire what it wants while the mind will always seek answers to the unknown. These two things don’t need to be mutually exclusive.

LI-09-03-2020Not only is rest and peace good for the soul, it’s needed for the mind too. The brain doesn’t need to be constantly working on things. It’s okay to take a break and just have fun once in awhile. It’s okay to let the mind wander, dream, and breathe easy. It’s okay to enjoy the world around you. What is the point of working so hard for the good life if you never take the time to savor it?

LI-10-03-2020Let’s be honest here and face it, most of the conflict and struggle we face in our daily lives occurs in our heads. Going over things we said or did. Going over things we should have said or done. Going over things that might happen. Going over things we wished never happened.

This is where you need to see the truth of what is, as it is, and release the rest of it.

The only thing about the past that can be changed, is the story you tell yourself about it. Make it the best possible, life affirming story that you can. The only thing you can change about the future is the choices you make, which is based upon the stories you’re telling yourself right now. Make it the best possible, life affirming stories that you can.

Physical Needs – Knight of Pentacles

Whatever the task is, allow yourself to become mindful of it and be aware of how you feel physically as you carry it out.

LI-11-03-2020This knight is all about unwavering dedication, so this month there is a physical need to feel productive in some way.

Whatever the task is, allow yourself to become mindful of it and be aware of how you feel physically as you carry it out. Just focus on it and nothing else. Whether it’s the one household chore, the single task at work, your workout, or whatever. Carry it out to completion before moving on to the next.

In this way it becomes a form of meditation as you focus on one task at a time. As you do this, do you find yourself feeling more productive, more focused, and having more energy for your tasks?

LI-12-03-2020We want to please everyone. We want to be and do everything for everyone. The reality is that we simply can’t. There is only so much time in one day and we can only please some of the people some of the time.

So the unification here that needs to happen is understanding what aligns with your authentic self, your true life path, and how this honestly serves others, even if it means sometimes disappointing them.

You physically can’t be in more than one place at a time. Things won’t always get done. Sometimes you’ll drop the ball. Sometimes you aren’t able to even do the thing that is desired of you.

Your physical body has symptoms of when you are not in alignment with your true self. You become fatigued in ways that sleep doesn’t cure. Headaches can become frequent. GI issues can become frequent. Unexplained illnesses can pop up. These are all stress related issues that don’t typically occur when we are living truly authentic lives.

And it’s important to remember here that being authentic doesn’t translate into being selfish jerks. You can be generous and giving without people -pleasing or self-sacrificing.

LI-13-03-2020You are being reminded that slow and steady wins the race. Life is not a sprint, but a marathon. Pace your hard work and effort with rest and relaxation. Allow your body to have time to recover so that you can continue on your journey.

The only milestones in life that matter are your own, and they will come to you in the time and order meant for you.

LI-14-03-2020Engaging in every battle presented to you not only creates emotional chaos, it also takes a toll on your body over time. Emotions generate biochemicals in the body.

Negative emotions signal the brain to produce stress hormones to trigger the fight or flight system. The constant presence of these chemicals cause wear and tear on the body. This wear and tear creates illness.

Lifestyle changes are necessary, particularly with how you interact with the world around you, in order to turn this around and generate wellness within the body.

LI-15-03-2020They say that laughter is the best medicine. The reason for this is that authentic love, joy, and gratitude are the emotions that produce the biochemistry we need to facilitate the best possible natural healing in our bodies. In other words, we need to embrace the things in life that honestly bring us joy and do things that make us happy. And it’s the little things that add up and have the greatest impact in our daily lives.

Conclusion

In order to align and unify with your authentic self and walk your life path, you will need to trust yourself and the universe more.

Everything in life has seasons and cycles, and this includes you. There is a time for work and growth. There is a time for rest and peace. Learn to recognize, value, and embrace the times for both.

This right here is is probably the hardest thing any of us will ever do: facing the truth of yourself within the shadow. Behavior patterns is the purest form of communication. Everything we do has a reason and has a source.

So if you are finding yourself consistently caught up engaging in constant struggle with other people instead of walking away and letting it go, there is a reason for that. It does not mean you are a bad or evil person. That’s not what it means. That’s shame talking. More than likely, your inner child has an unmet need somewhere that can be better served in some other way than this.

Love yourself enough to dig deeper so you can finally free yourself from this chaos.

You need to be able to find the humor in life rather than take it and yourself so seriously all the time.

Even dark humor serves a purpose during hard times. Permit yourself to turn toward and reach for the light even when you’re stuck in the shadows. And if you must, create that light yourself.

Whatever the task is, allow yourself to become mindful of it and be aware of how you feel physically as you carry it out.

Focus on one task at a time instead of multi-tasking. Pay attention to your body and what it’s telling you. You will know when you’re doing the right thing versus the wrong thing. You will know when you need to rest versus when to act. Your body will send you the signals you need if you are willing to trust it.

In order to align and unify with your authentic self and walk your life path, you will need to trust yourself and the universe more.

This means no more people-pleasing to your own detriment out of fear of how others might react. By living according to what is true to you, more peace and joy will come into your life.
