Lunar Intentions 2020 – July

According to folk-lore, the New Moon and waxing phases are fertile and wet. This is the best time to set intentions, start goals, and launch projects. Meanwhile the Full Moon and waning phases, the tide recedes and thus things dry up. So this is a good time to thin, weed out, and prune.

Another New Moon is upon us and now is the time to clarify our intentions and solidify our commitments for the lunar month ahead. With today’s reading we will explore the energies of the Four Pillars of Wellness and our current point in the Journey of Life. In doing so we can take the time to consider what we do and don’t want in our lives and set the appropriate intentions and goals towards what we desire.

Here is the spread for this New Moon’s reading.

Current Point on Life’s Path – Seven of Wands

Focus on your boundaries at this time.

The Seven of Wands is telling us to focus on our boundaries at this time.

Remember, boundaries is about how we respond to people and situations. They are not about us attempting to control people and situations.

So, are you feeling like you are battling or struggling with things too often? Or are you feeling like you are being taken advantage of in some way? If so, what can you do to make the shift out of that?

Spiritual Needs – Three of Cups

Have fun and enjoy life with those you are closest to.

Spiritually, there is a need to have fun and enjoy life with those you are closest to.

You don’t need an excuse to celebrate life or to save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is reason enough.

You also don’t need anyone to validate the things that spark your joy. Don’t permit anyone to rain on your parade. They don’t have to like the same things you do. Celebrate with those that value and appreciate the same stuff as you.

Emotional Needs – Two of Swords

Limit the time spent analyzing and deliberating.

Emotionally, you need peace of mind. Limit the time spent analyzing and deliberating. What you’re really doing is overthinking instead of making decisions and acting upon them to live your life.

Set boundaries with yourself on how much time you worry about things. Also set boundaries with those that tend to feed into your fears and anxieties. You don’t need anyone adding to what you are already feeling.

Surround yourself with those that uplift you and encourage you rather than trouble you or bring unnecessary drama.

Mental Needs – Four of Pentacles

Understand that while you can’t control everything in your life, you can control yourself and create a sense of certainty that way.

Everyone needs a sense of security to some degree. This comes in large part to the level of certainty one perceives or creates in their lives. Understand that while you can’t control everything in your life, you can control yourself and create a sense of certainty that way.

The boundaries you set are the greatest tools of control you have when it comes to dealing with others.

Don’t like the way you are being spoken to? End the conversation and walk away.

Don’t like the way you are being treated? Let them know and leave the room.

The person refuses to make any changes in the way they speak to you or treat you? Go no contact.

You get the idea.

There’s nothing wrong with scheduling a regular routine fun day for yourself. You decide the when, where, and how of it, and who you spend it with. Make this day yours and yours alone and one that uplifts you in such a way that it sparks joy in you.

Peace of mind comes when we are certain about ourselves and our lives. Take the time to get to know the real you better if need be. Meditation is a great tool for this.

Physical Needs – Knight of Pentacles

Examine the attachments you have with your body and other material things.

Check the balance between your ego and the physical realm. In other words, what are your attachments to your body and other material things?

How much do they define you as a person? Do you experience guilt or shame around food? What about exercise? Your appearance? Your possessions? Do you feel pride around any of these things?

More importantly, how do these feelings drive your behaviors and how can you change these behaviors?

Set boundaries regarding your body and your material realm. Who do you permit to touch you, comment about your appearance, police your diet, critique your work or performance, and dictate your possessions? Just to name a few.

And when someone violates these boundaries, how do you intend to respond?

How do you celebrate your body and your physical realm? Are you nourishing your body with a balanced diet? Are you balancing activity with adequate rest? Most importantly, are you mindful not to indulge in excess too often?

The Knight of Pentacles reminds us that we have duties, obligations, and responsibilities to attend to. The Three of Cups reminds us that life is meant to be enjoyed and celebrated. These two cards together tells us that both are best done in moderation.

Release the need for external validation and turn inward for it. Peace of mind comes when you are no longer at war with yourself. Your body, your possessions, your profession, and even your role in life do not need the approval of others.

The duties and obligations you have are only the ones you agree to carry. If you take on the role, you agree to the duties and obligations that come with them. You are not happy with this, change the role.

Too often we try to create a sense of security with material things, but nothing earthly lasts forever. If you can obtain it, then it can be lost. This is the flow of nature.

The Knight of Pentacles reminds us that it is in trustworthiness and reliability in ourselves and in others where true security and certainty is found. The world reflects back to us what we put into it. If you don’t trust yourself, or if you are not reliable, then this is what the world will reflect back upon you.

No one can rob you of your honor. If you are trustworthy and reliable, there is nothing that can take these traits away from you. They cannot be stolen. They cannot be lost. You can only shift out of alignment from them. And as long as you remain in alignment with these traits, you have the means to build a solid foundation for your life.

The more mindful you are of how you interact with the world, the more capable you become of living the life you desire.

As we come to the end of the reading, let’s look at the entire spread and review the key points presented.

Seven of Wands

What do your boundaries look and feel like right now? How can you shift them into better alignment with your true self?

Three of Cups

A life worth living is a life worth celebrating. Who and what do you celebrate in your life? How can you celebrate this more often?

Two of Swords

Peace of mind does not come from overthinking. How can you better manage your worries and concerns?

Four of Pentacles

It is human nature to desire a degree of certainty in our lives, but we cannot control everything. How can you improve self control to improve your sense of security?

Knight of Pentacles

Which attachments to the physical realm define your identity? How can you shift that into better alignment with your true self?

The more mindful you are of how you interact with the world, the more capable you become of living the life you desire.
