2020 Chaos Rally #42

In this coming week’s wellness tarot challenge, we are called to use self-care and mindful prioritization of duties to alleviate exhaustion and overwhelm. Read on for details!

This Coming Week’s Reading

The purpose of this Chaos Rally tarot reading is to take a look at the coming week and see in what way we can challenge ourselves to do better in regards to our overall wellness. I ask you to approach this as a fun brainstorming session of possibilities rather than me prescribing a course of action to you.

And again, in terms of wellness I want to point out that this applies to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the self. All four of these comprise the total sense of being and need to be taken care of in order to be well. As always, and I cannot stress this enough, be sure to speak to the appropriate professional before making changes to your care plan. This is especially true if my reading for some reason inspires a change in diet, exercise, supplements, or medications, or even raises a concern regarding to your health.

I’m not a specialist in any of these fields. My goal is to look at how to manage wellness in the presence and with the cooperation of your professional care team. Please keep this in mind when going over this reading.

Here is the image of this coming week’s reading.

The Challenge: Ten of Swords

Examine what exhausts you and determine ways to alleviate that.

Monday Button’s position represents the challenge you need to be working on at this time. Thus, what you need to be working on right now is found within the Ten of Swords.

The challenge for this coming week is to examine what exhausts you and determine ways to alleviate that.

Often times the Ten of Swords is a signal for release. How often do we take on more than we can handle and then make martyrs of ourselves for it? It’s human nature. We typically do this without even realizing we’ve done it and then we find ourselves feeling trapped.

This is especially true in society today when busyness and exhaustion are measurements of productivity for some reason as opposed to actual output. If you’re busy and exhausted but not actually producing anything, then how are you being productive? I will never understand this.

Even if you are producing something, exhaustion will cause a decline in quality. Just something to keep in mind here. Stop being busy just for the sake of being busy.

The Lesson: Knight of Pentacles

You can change what you do at will, but the core of your being remains the same.

Grim Lee’s position represents what you need to be learning while working on your challenge. Therefore, your lesson at this time is found within the Knight of Pentacles.

Knights serve as the messengers within the court of the tarot. And in many ways I feel they also represent the balance between the ego and the element of their suit. Here we have the ego versus the earth, which is productivity, responsibility, and duty.

Lesson here is that you are not your responsibilities, your duties, or your productivity. All of those things are the things you do, but they don’t define you. You can change what you do at will, but the core of your being remains the same.

It’s helpful to remember that the core of your being remains the same even while resting.

When you find yourself feeling exhausted, it’s helpful to remember that you are not defined by what you do. It’s helpful to remember that the core of your being remains the same even while resting. It remains the same even when you hand over some tasks to others. Changing any of these things does not change who you are.

The Inner Lie: The Empress

You deserve to be nurtured.

Murphy Law’s position represents the false belief you need to overcome while working on your challenge. The inner lie at this time is revealed within the Empress.

The Empress at the very heart of its meaning is to nurture. And you deserve to be nurtured. Whether you nurture yourself or someone else does, it doesn’t matter.

You deserve to be well rested, well fed, safe, and loved. These are all very basic needs. Do not deny yourself these needs. Self-care involves getting these needs met.

Feeling exhausted is a clear sign that self-care is required.

Feeling exhausted is a clear sign that self-care is required. Again, self-care isn’t about luxuries. It’s about taking care of yourself and getting your needs met. Luxuries can be a part of that, but they won’t do much if the basic needs aren’t being met.

Out of all the responsibilities and duties you have, make sure taking care of yourself is on the list.

Out of all the responsibilities and duties you have, make sure taking care of yourself is on the list. Far too often we put ourselves last and end up with unmet needs. Bump yourself up to a higher priority and start getting those needs met.

Take care of your overall wellness first so you can take care of everything else.

Exhaustion can lead to illness. If you’re sick, how can you take care of anything else? It won’t matter what your responsibilities and duties are at that point if your health takes a dive. Take care of your overall wellness first so you can take care of everything else.

The Wisdom: Ten of Wands

When you find yourself struggling with something, stop and look for another solution.

Wise Toad’s position represents the wisdom to keep in mind as you work on your challenge. The wisdom you need at this time is found within the Ten of Wands.

This card deals with feeling tired, over burdened, and overwhelmed.

The wisdom here is when you find yourself struggling with something, stop and look for another solution.

Like the faerie in the image of this card, continuously yanking on the string isn’t solving anything. He needs to find a way to cut it free, detangle it, or go get some help.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you feel exhausted or overwhelmed.

I find it interesting that in the image of both of these cards, someone is all tangled up. She’s all alone in the Ten of Swords, but the dragon has help in the Ten of Wands. I take this to mean that help is available.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you feel exhausted or overwhelmed. Be clear and direct about what it is you need help with when you ask.

If you feel overwhelmed about the household chores, ask someone to do the dishes or the laundry. Don’t complain about how much you have to do and hope someone volunteers.

It’s quicker to get your car repaired when you’re able to tell them exactly what needs to be fixed, right? The same principle applies with asking for help.

We as humans have a tendency to allow others to play the martyr, like the faerie in the Ten of Swords. Why this is, I’m not sure. Maybe in part it’s because we don’t always know intuitively what to do. We’re not mind readers and it’s not fair to expects to be one.

Be like the dragon who has asked. Sure, the faerie in the image hasn’t gotten it figured out yet, but I have faith that he will. If the faerie had been told to bring a knife or a pair of scissors to cut the string, I’m sure that would have sped things along.

Make sure the responsibilities and duties you have are really yours to carry.

Make sure the responsibilities and duties you have are really yours to carry. Otherwise you quickly end up feeling like either the dragon or faerie in the Ten of Wands. Don’t tangle yourself up in stuff that isn’t really yours to deal with. Don’t allow others to leave you holding the bag so to speak.

Failing to nurture yourself and met your needs will also result in you feeling overwhelmed.

Failing to nurture yourself and met your needs will also result in you feeling overwhelmed. You depend on having the energetic resources to perform in life, but if you aren’t taking care of yourself these resources become depleted and stay that way. This leaves you struggling with everything.

Conclusion

[insert Team Toad summary]

Self-care and mindful prioritization of duties are key to alleviating exhaustion and overwhelm. Stop being busy solely for the sake of being busy. It’s important to remember that you are not defined by what you do and when asking for help that you are clear and direct about what you need.
