Self-Care with Six of Swords

Welcome to Self-Care with tarot! Each week we will go over one tarot card and explore how it can be used to inspire a self-care activity for the week. This week is the Six of Swords.

Introduction and Meaning of the Card

SC-s06-01

If you haven’t already, you can explore the basic meaning of this card here, from my Exploring Tarot series, and you can explore the emotional meaning here, from my Emotional Tarot series.

With that said, in the context of self-care, I take this card to mean to consider what you need to recover from or transition from at this time.

My Suggested Self-Care Activity for the Week

Based on the meaning of this card, the activity I would suggest to try doing each day until next Wednesday is to take the time to recover or transition as needed. Things in life seldom go the way we want or expect. The more attached we are, the more painful the unexpected is when it arises.

Honestly, I don’t believe there is anything wrong with this despite what so many spiritual gurus have to say about it. The fact that we have the ability to feel pain is proof that we are alive.

Having said that, we need to allow ourselves the grace to move through that pain in order to heal. This too is part of being alive. And personally, I think it’s a wonderful thing. The contrast permits us to experience joy elsewhere if we are willing to move forward.

Do You have any Self-Care Activity Ideas to Suggest?
