Self-Care with King of Swords

Welcome to Self-Care with tarot! Each week we will go over one tarot card and explore how it can be used to inspire a self-care activity for the week. This week is the King of Swords.

Introduction and Meaning of the Card

SC-s14-01

If you haven’t already, you can explore the basic meaning of this card here, from my Exploring Tarot series, and you can explore the emotional meaning here, from my Emotional Tarot series.

With that said, in the context of self-care, I take this card to mean to be aware of the stories we tell ourselves.

My Suggested Self-Care Activity for the Week

Based on the meaning of this card, the activity I would suggest to try doing each day until next Wednesday is to not only take the time to track the events going on in your journal but also to pay close attention to what you’re telling yourself about them and how it makes you feel.

Are you the hero or the damsel in distress in your own story? I certainly hope you’re not the villain, but I am aware that’s also a possibility.

Whatever story it is you’re telling, understand that you are the main character and it’s the narrative that shapes how you think and feel about yourself. You have the power to tell yourself a good story, even when the chips are down.

Bet on yourself. Root for yourself. Cheer yourself on. Be your own hero.

Do You have any Self-Care Activity Ideas to Suggest?
