Here is this quarter’s self improvement tarot challenge. Read on for details!
This Quarter’s Reading
The purpose of this tarot reading is to take a look at this quarter of the year and see in what way we can challenge ourselves to do better in regards to our overall wellness. I ask you to approach this as a fun brainstorming session of possibilities rather than me prescribing a course of action to you. If it doesn’t resonate with you, then you are free to discard it entirely.
And again, in terms of wellness I want to point out that this applies to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the self. All four of these elements comprise the total sense of being and need to be taken care of in order to be well. As always, and I cannot stress this enough, be sure to speak to the appropriate professional before making changes to your care plan. This is especially true if the reading inspires a change in diet, exercise, supplements, or medications, or even raises a concern regarding to your health.
I’m not a specialist in any of these fields. My goal is to look at how to manage wellness in the presence and with the cooperation of your professional care team. Please keep this in mind when going over this reading.
Here is the image of this coming week’s reading.
The Challenge: The Emperor
Stay the course and remain focused on the direction you want to take in your life.
Monday Button’s position represents the challenge you need to be working on at this time. Thus, what you need to be working on right now is found within the Emperor.
So the first thing I noticed in this reading is that we got the Emperor again in the same position. This means we stay the course and remain focused on the direction we want to take in our lives. Where are you trying to go and how do you intend to get there? How is this working out for you right now and what adjustments do you need to make? These are the questions you need to be asking yourself right now.
The Lesson: The Fool
Understand and accept the difference between exploring your options and goofing off.
Grim Lee’s position represents what you need to be learning while working on your challenge. Therefore, your lesson at this time is found within the Fool.
The lesson to be learned here at this time is understanding and accepting the difference between exploring your options and goofing off. While it is good to explore new avenues, we need to remain aware that sometimes it’s a means to procrastinate. We need to make sure that we’re moving forward with our goals and not putting things off.
You aren’t going to reach your destination in life if you allow yourself to be distracted by the many options around you.
In context of the Emperor card, the Fool here means that we aren’t going to reach our destination in life if we allow ourselves to be distracted by the many options around us. We need to pick one, commit to it, and start working towards it. Yes, we can always change directions later if we need to but at least we will be moving forward.
The Inner Lie: Hanged Man
Beware of “analysis paralysis” out of the fear of mistakes.
Murphy Law’s position represents the false belief you need to overcome while working on your challenge. The inner lie at this time is revealed within the Hanged Man.
How many times have you fallen into the trap of “analysis paralysis” out of fear of messing up? Understand and embrace the idea that mistakes are an opportunity to learn. You might hit rock bottom and need to start things over, but you’re not really ruining your life. It’s not really the end of the world, even if it may feel like it. Even if you have to start over from scratch, you’ll have the experience under your belt to work from that you didn’t have before. Trust in that and in yourself.
Without a decision to commit to, no action can be taken.
Analysis paralysis will prevent you from achieving your goals and from moving in the direction you desire. I’m not saying here that you should make decisions blindly. What I am saying is that be careful not to fall into the rabbit hole of research to the point that you don’t make a decision at all. Without a decision to commit to, no action can be taken.
If the task or goal is so unpleasant or difficult to carry out, then why is this so important to you?
And this brings me to my next point. Sometimes it’s not really analysis paralysis. Sometimes it’s really procrastination in the guise of preparation. If the task or goal is so unpleasant or difficult to carry out, then why is this so important to you? Are you really doing this for you? Maybe it’s time to re-evaluate your goals and priorities.
Remain aware of the pitfalls before you to reach your destination.
So looking at these three cards together, you need to be mindful of distraction, procrastination, and fear. You need to be willing to commit to a decision and act upon it in order to move towards your goal. If your current goal no longer aligns with you, then you need to be willing to make adjustments to that goal until it does. This includes changing directions completely if necessary. Remain aware of the pitfalls before you to reach your destination.
The Wisdom: Knight of Disks
You are neither your work nor are you in control of the outcome of your efforts.
Wise Toad’s position represents the wisdom to keep in mind as you work on your challenge. The wisdom you need at this time is found within the Knight of Disks, also known as the Knight of Pentacles.
The wisdom to keep in mind at this time is while it is important to work hard and put in your best effort in all that you do, you are neither your work nor are you in control of the outcome of your efforts. Additionally, your best is going to look different from one day to the next. Give yourself grace and go easy on yourself. As long as you are sincere in your efforts in that moment, then there is no shame or guilt to be had.
Not only do you determine the direction in which you go, but you also determine the pace in which you go.
The thing to keep in mind when it comes to your goals is that you are the captain of the ship. Not only do you determine the direction in which you go, but you also determine the pace in which you go. So on one hand while no effort means you’ll go nowhere, it also means you’ll get nowhere if you work yourself to the ground. Your energy is a resource; be mindful of how you use it.
It’s important when you feel like your not getting anything done while busy to stop and seriously take stock of what’s happening.
How often have you felt busy doing nothing? It’s important when you feel this way to stop and seriously take stock of what’s happening. Are you really doing nothing? Is really nothing getting accomplished? If so, why? What do you need to do to change this? If things are really getting done, take a moment to appreciate it and realize that this is a sign of exhaustion. Give yourself a break and allow room for grace.
Beware of using busyness as a means or an excuse to procrastinate.
Beware of using busyness as a means or an excuse to procrastinate. While it is true you are not responsible for outcomes, if you do not put a sincere effort into your goals, then you will have no chance of achieving a desirable outcome. Make sure you prioritize your time and energy appropriately around your goals.
Remember always that you are the captain of your ship.
If you commit to a goal and remain mindful of the pitfalls regarding distractions, procrastination, and pacing, then you will be able reach your destination in life. Remember always that you are the captain of your ship. You get to decide where you go and how fast you travel.
